- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
Directions:
- Cook the Beef Mixture:
- In a heavy pot, combine ground beef, bell peppers, onion, garlic, flour, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Cook over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Stir frequently until most of the moisture has evaporated, and the mixture becomes crumbly and begins to brown, about 15 minutes.
- Simmer and Thicken:
- Stir in the chicken broth, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 45 minutes.
- Broil the Cheese:
- Set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the broiler.
- Transfer the mixture to an oven-proof saucepan. Top with half of the shredded cheese, poking it down into the dip with a fork. Add the remaining cheese on top.
- Place under the broiler and cook until the cheese is browned and the dip is hot and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
