Ingredients

  • 4 boneless pork chops (about 1 ยฝ lbs or 680g)
  • ยผ cup soy sauce (60 mL)
  • ยฝ cup packed brown sugar (100 g)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (30 mL)
  • ยผ cup water (60 mL)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (14 g)
  • 10 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat the oven to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC). Ensure your skillet is oven-safe.

2. Prepare Glaze:

  • In an oven-safe skillet over medium heat, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, water, butter, garlic, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently, until the glaze thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

3. Reserve Glaze:

  • Remove the pan from heat. Set aside 2-3 tablespoons of glaze in a small bowl for brushing later.

4. Season & Coat Chops:

  • Season pork chops lightly with salt and pepper. Place them into the skillet and turn to coat evenly in the glaze.

5. Bake:

  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145ยฐF (63ยฐC) with an instant-read thermometer.

6. Rest & Serve:

  • Remove from oven and let chops rest for 5 minutes before serving. Brush reserved glaze over the pork chops before serving.

7. Enjoy:

  • Serve immediately! Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3-4 days.

Tips

  • Bone-in or boneless pork chops work well; bone-in offers more flavor while boneless are quicker to cook.
  • Use a stove-top and oven-safe skillet to avoid extra dishesโ€”cast iron or stainless steel pans are ideal.
  • Avoid burning the glaze by whisking frequently and adjusting the heat as needed.
  • Brush extra glaze on chops when serving for an additional flavor boost.
